Anyone using the Polk PSW505 Subwoofer for their setup? I
I have a Polk sub but not the 505, I have the PSW125 and I really don't like it. Yes its good on the budget but it really just doesn't go as deep and low as some of the Internet direct offerings, and its noticeable (at least to me). It is loud and boomy, but its just not as accurate and just seems to compress/distort the audio the lower the sub goes IMO. I would look at Internet direct companies like Elemental Designs, Outlaw Audio, SVS, Dayton, BIC etc. Search AVSFORUM for tons of info. Their site also has a For Sale Section for used subs, etc. Another great site for used equipment is Audiogon . I would go with something from SVS like the PB-10NSD , but that's just a personal opinion, all the other companies I mentioned are very reputable as well. Yes the companies listed above might be a little more money, but they will provide accurate loud bass down low where I personally don't feel it from the Polk, and give you a better per dollar performance value. If you spend more now and get the best you can, then the upgrade bug wont bite you later on like it has me. If the Polk is all you can afford then by all means purchase it, but there are other viable options within that range. I would suggest checking out Polk's ebay website to see if you can score a deal on a refurb sub and perhaps stretch your dollar farther. Where Polk is good is on speakers. I personally own and love their Monitor series loudspeakers. I have a set of Monitor 60,s Monitor 40's, R50's, a CS1 & CS2. They are a great purchase for speakers, but their subs just don't provide that same value IMO.
If you love a great deal, then you
