The XBR75X940E weights 94.3 lb without the table-top stand, which makes it significantly heavier than its predecessor. Regardless of that, the XBR75X940E can be mounted on a wall using any 400×300 VESA compatible wall mount that can support such heavy TV. There is an optional Sony SU-WL830 wall-mount bracket for the XBR75X940E as well. If you use the SU-WL830, the TV appears flush to the wall but this wall-mount bracket is not included so it has to be purchased separately. Furthermore, the SU-WL830 allows you to swivel the TV up to 15 degrees in each direction in order to adjust it to your viewing position, or access the ports on the back of the XBR75X940E.

Nice review!!!! Like Steve, I am also deciding between the Sony 940D and the Samsung KS9000. Both are priced the same, unless one is on sale, and produce a great picture. Samsung claims to have a brighter picture which in return produces a more like 3D image but Sony has the better backlight system. I hope you could do a review on the Samsung as well to compare apples to apples. If I had an xtra $3k I would get the new Sony Z9 and not worry about the issues.

We say this because Sony was until 2015 the only player on the market that was regularly using quantum dot technology in its 4K TVs, in the form of the well-known and acclaimed Triluminous Display. Triluminous is still there and because Sony has had plenty of time to perfect it, it works exquisitely at delivering a much more vibrant and broader color range than a conventional 4K TV could offer.

Steve, thanks for the informative replies to my questions. As 4k programming will begin to increase by the end of this year with the release of 4k Blu-ray movies and specials, and greater fare from satellite and streaming sources, I"d like to look forward to viewing this technology in the near future. The trick for a Home Theater enthusiast is knowing how to do so sensibly, as the future is very much up in the air. No one absolutely knows what that future may bring, but I"m pretty certain that within the next three to four years either OLED will be affordable and refined, or LED will be substantially improved, with FALD displays the norm. To me at least, it just doesn"t make sense for a middle-income wage earner to over-spend today for what will almost certainly be old technology a few years down the road. The 850c seems to be an excellent 4k TV, providing Sony quality at an affordable price. Selling this model off in the future will be far more convenient than if a person invested in a model such as the 940c. And while it"s true that the 850c will never have HDR, it"s also true that those 4k Blu-ray discs that have this feature included will have it permanently, obviously, so HDR really isn"t an issue.
