The Sony KDL55W955B is a disappointing departure from the excellent heritage of high-end Bravia TVs due to subpar contrast performance.
If you can find a set free of the backlight uniformity issues that plagued our sample, and are going to use the television primarily in a bright room, then the KDL-55W955 is not without its virtues. It has great out-of-the-box greyscale accuracy, good colour balance, impressive motion rendition, and first-rate gaming responsiveness. Nevertheless, this year’s midrange Sony W705 and W829 , or even better, last year’s top-end Bravia W9 (if you can still find stock) are wiser buys due to their superior contrast performance.

The new Android Marshmallow update for Sony Bravia 2015 and spring 2016 TVs is on the horizon for release launch in the UK
The update also brings with it a much improved setup experience for new SHIELD owners. As this is a feature which is designed for new SHIELD owners, this won’t be of much use to those who are already using the device (unless you plan a full wipe anytime soon). However, if you plan on picking up a new SHIELD, with the improved setup procedure, much of the work of setting up your SHIELD can be done with your Android smartphone or tablet. Simply use the Google app and say “setup my device” and job done. There is also an improved ability to control your video playback after the update. This includes the ability to manually adjust frame-rates, over scan and audio video sync for better suitability to the content you are watching. These features can be accessed by heading to “Settings” and then to “HDMI”.

Sorry, can you elaborate here. How is it not possible? Do you mean an alternative launcher can"t force itself as the default, and therefore runs fine but as soon as you press the home button Leanback kicks in again? Or do you simply mean the likes of HALauncher no longer appears as a Leanback tile once installed? It will be easy to fix the latter. Either way I"ll simply do what I do now once Marshmallow is released, namely freeze Leanback launcher and remove it from the equation. Awful thing which offers little to nothing in the way of customisation. I"m surprised it hasn"t got an Apple logo on it, like most things Google do these days.

Now when it comes to sideloading apps. If it’s just a single apk file. It will move the whole thing to the SD Card, but if it’s an apk file with data. Where you have to move the data files to Android/Data or OBB. That Data will not be moved to the SD Card and you can’t move it yourself in file manager either because moving and deleting files on the SD Card and USB are not allowed. I’m hoping the next update will fix all these issues
