1440p 144hz 27 inch: Asus MG278Q Review - 27-inch 1ms 1440p Monitor

Yeah U know I know, TN. Acer will release a new gaming screen, the 27-Inch XB270HU. It is a 144 HZ TN screen with GSYNC at a nice WHQD resolution of 2560x1440. Fairly similar to the Asus ROG Swift P.

The 27-inch, 2560 x 1440 display has a maximum fresh rate of 144Hz which is one of the main features that distinguish it from the MG279Q, the other one being the choice of panel. Whereas the MG279Q features an IPS panel, the MG278Q has a TN panel which looks absolutely fantastic, as long as you view it directly from the front. After all, 27-28 inches is the absolute max for TN panels. When gaming at high FPS, however, everything will look fantastic.

ASUS Announces MG278Q 27-Inch 144Hz FreeSync Gaming Monitor

Your PC is probably more geared for 1440P than you think - 4790 non isn"t an issue - the lower speed puts it slight better placed for 1440P, but it"s still a great chip. Fury X  - HBM - memory that performs better at higher resolutions. Remember you can always drop detail settings if FPS starts to plummet - but a 1070/980ti are great for 1440P and a Fury X is aimed at that bracket
