Looking at the ASUS VG248QE for your next gaming monitor? See what our in-house expert, Leo, had to say before you make the jump!
Beneath the monitor is where the display settings and controls can be found. From left to right, the buttons are: an Exit Menu button/Splendid Mode cycle button (allows you to switch between various display modes), scroll down/GamePlus options, Menu button, scroll up/brightness button, input select button, and the power button. This ASUS monitor has the button tucked underneath the monitor but displays the icons at the edge of the bezel. It just looks far more flush than other monitors, like the ASUS VW246H I have, for example.

By prevailing demand, Steen shows us the key differences between the BenQ XL2411Z and the Asus VG248QE BenQ XL2411Z vs XL2420G Video: .
Since the 3D tide has receded, we
That said you are still getting the same native resolution, full tilt/rotation, a VESA-compatible stand and great image quality, but a sub-£300 price-tag would have been nice. That"s especially true given what BenQ has managed to do with its XL2411T. It"s almost £100 cheaper than this 24-inch Asus screen, and the only real difference we can make out is that this panel is rated at 144Hz, as opposed to the 120Hz of the BenQ.

Every performance-oriented gaming rig needs a speedy display to keep up with cutting-edge GPUs. Asus delivers up to 144 Hz with its VG248QE 24-inch TN-based monitor. Is its display performance as impressive as the company's sub-$300 price tag?
Even though we"ve tested true 120 Hz displays in the past (particularly in conjunction with Nvidia"s 3D Vision technology), Asus is hearing the call from power users for screens with even higher refresh rates. The company has 24- and 27-inch monitors able to operate at up to 144 Hz, and sent us its VG248QE, which has an amazing claimed response time of one millisecond. If you pick the 27" model instead, that increases to a still-amazing 2 ms. Not only is the screen draw time substantially reduced, but input lag (as we discover in the pages to come) is extremely low as well.
The Asus VG248QE is a 24-inch gaming monitor featuring a 144Hz refresh rate, a lightning fast pixel response, and a highly adjustable stand.
Ask any hardcore gamer what matters most and nine out of 10 times you"ll get a one-word answerspeed. It"s no secret that fast frame rates not only give you smoother game play but they can also give you an edge over those unfortunate souls who have to deal with lag and choppy motion. You can spend thousands on a tricked out gaming rig but if your monitor can"t display the action smoothly you"re not getting the most out of your hardware investment. With the Asus VG248QE , you don"t have to worry about ghosting, lag, or choppy action. This 24-inch gaming monitor offers a 1-millisecond (gray-to-gray) pixel response and a 144Hz refresh rate, and it is 3D capable. Its color accuracy is good (not great) and its stand lets you position the panel in any direction for optimal (and comfortable) viewing. Off angle viewing is less than stellar though, and a few more I/O ports would be nice.

A review of the ASUS VG248QE. Offering
The basic specifications reveal that this monitor uses a 144Hz TN panel from AUO with a WLED backlight 1920 x 1080 resolution and a specified 1ms grey to grey response time. The monitor offers plenty of brightness (350 cd/m2 specified) which should come in useful to overcome the diming effects of active shutter glasses. Despite currently having no direct competition in the United States the VG248QE is priced at a rather attractive $280 or so in this region. In the United Kingdom it retails for around £300 at time of review which is a fair chunk more than the XL2411T and actually slightly more than the XL2420T with its more complete set of inputs. There is obviously a lot more to a monitor than these basic specifications and it will be interesting to see how the ASUS performs in reality.
